Taro: The Polynesians who settled the Hawaiian islands brought with them plants and animals they knew they would need. Among them was taro, the staple of the early Hawaiian diet. Considered sacred, it was cultivated with great care, and no part of the plant was wasted. Today it is perhaps best known as the main ingredient in poi, still a key dish in Hawaiian cuisine, whose recipe hasn’t changed since the times of those earliest settlers.
Our "Ornate Taro" Hawaiian Quilt design shows abundant, heart-shaped leaves growing off of a central corm - the rounded, starchy root from which poi is made. Do you see the 4 corms, blended together, in the center of the design?

The piece of glass in each of the jewelry types (from largest to smallest) is:

These pendants and dangle earrings are wrapped in Sterling Silver wire, and each pendant comes with
a black cord - as seen in the pictures - cut to approximately 34" in length, with ends treated to prevent fraying,
so that it can be tied to the desired length.
The findings on our dangle earrings - the part that goes through your ear - are also made from Sterling Silver. The posts on our post earrings are Surgical Steel and come with comfort earnuts.
Each purchase comes with a card, describing all the available Hawaiian Quilt designs.
